Genie, Make a Wish

Opinion: It’s a really entertaining series; the fantastical world and the rivalry between the mystical creatures are quite intriguing. Watching the protagonists’ story unfold is really exciting. I think it strikes a good balance between comedy and drama. No character is thrown in haphazardly—they all have their role in the plot and are interesting to follow.

Final thoughts that may contain spoilers: I really liked the relationship between the main characters that transcends generations. I really, really like the theoretical duality of whether evil and selfishness are already ingrained in our species versus whether we’ve developed them over the years. I wasn’t expecting this theme to come up in the story—it was a great and interesting surprise. The only thing that bothered me a little was the ending, especially the fate of Ki KaYoung’s friend—man, she suffers so much and loses everyone for nothing. The over-the-top drama of everything going wrong in the last episode, only for everyone (well, almost everyone, lol) to end up alive and happy, annoyed me a bit. Other than that, it’s a great rom-fantasy.
